Basic information
2018 Perodua Axia Mk1 Facelift Standard 1.0 AT
Reason why I bought this car
Back then, my parents decided to buy me car so that I can use it to college and also to train my skills as a driver. It was purchased during the time when the government announce that cars will be GST-free, so we immediately went to Perodua and bought the car after a test drive. After getting my license, I immediately began using my car as my main mode of transportation to go anywhere I like.
Car selection process
- I had a budget of RM:30,000-40,000
- Models I have considered include:Perodua Myvi
The reason why I choose this car
- Gets all basics covered
- Low on monthly repayments
- Fuel Efficient
- Low maintenance fees
- Low road tax
User experience
I have already done 20000+ km.
I do not have much comments on the car. So far, it is a car that does everything right and get all basics covered. Although it comes with a 1.0 3-Cylinder NA mated to a 4-speed auto, it does not feel that underpowered as it is a light car. Moreover, body roll is apparent especially when cornering but it is expected for the segment. Other than that, it is car that gets everything covered.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Light on fuel (13.5km/l average)
- Spacious for an A-Segment Car
- Reliable
- Nimble especially in the City
Cons
- Lack of safety features, ( I know it is a budget car, but maybe boost some safety features in future?)
- Can be underpowered especially going uphill
- Average built quality
- Body Roll is apparent
Summary
Basically, it is a car for budget-conscious buyers, parents wanting to buy a trainer car for their college going kids, and those who needed a secondary car without breaking the buck. If one must have something more than that, there are better options out there.
Personally, I would prefer to use safer, more powerful and more sophsicated cars such as the Perodua Myvi Advance, Honda City, Toyota Vios, Nissan Almera, Mazda CX-3 or even the Subaru XV if I have the budget.
However, I still love my Axia though haha.
